Our Story

SEWA Journeys is where travel becomes service — serving the forests, serving people, and serving the planet.
Founded by educators, conservationists, and local tribes, SEWA integrates tourism with grassroots welfare projects, ensuring every visit contributes to sustainable development.
Born in the foothills of North Bengal, SEWA Journeys was founded on a simple but powerful belief: tourism can heal when guided by the spirit of service, or Sevā.
We bring decades of experience in education, conservation, and social welfare, shaping a model where travel sustains life rather than exploits it. The stories of the people who have called this land home for centuries form the heart of our journeys. From the forest villages of Lapchaka and Adma, to the Rabhas living amidst the vast tea plantations of the Dooars, to the Toto tribes who have found refuge here, every place captures the imagination of travelers seeking authenticity. The Santhals, Meche, Nepali, and other communities have lived in harmony with nature for generations, and their wisdom continues to inspire us.
For over two decades, we have worked alongside local communities, creating opportunities that empower and uplift. From traditional agriculture to innovative agro-tourism, from centuries-old forestry practices to immersive ecotourism initiatives, we offer experiences that bring peace, adventure, and insight to every traveler.
Our initiatives go beyond tourism. Programs focused on women’s empowerment, youth leadership, and education are shaping the region positively and fostering sustainable growth. At SEWA Journeys, we are more than a travel company—we are a community working together to build a life full of happiness, connection, and purpose.
